RESEARCH

Kidney function robustly declines with age in humans and many animals. Dr. Kasinath's research investigates the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying structural and functional changes in the kidney with age. A second interest of the laboratory is determining how aging interacts with diseases such as diabetes -- the number one cause of kidney failure in the United States -- to accelerate the deterioration of kidney function. The laboratory employs both in vitro and in vivo models in its research.
