Binge Eating Syndrome Treatment for Older Women (BESTOW)

Purpose of this Study

The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate a group intervention (“program”) designed to help women 60 years and older improve eating behaviors, particularly binge eating. We hope to learn whether this program helps women develop healthier eating habits and how it may change the way women think about themselves and their health behaviors, broadly.

You may qualify if you are:

  • Female (aged 60+)
  • In the past month: have eaten an unusually large amount of food in one sitting AND felt that your eating was out of control at that time.

You may NOT qualify if you:

  • Male
  • Younger than 60 years old

Study Procedures

  • Assessment visits
      • Surveys
      • Interviews
  • Program visits
      • 6 group sessions

Compensation
Participants will be compensated for completing each assessment visit for up to $110 for completing the entire study.
