Nisi Jiang, PhD, first author and recent Biology of Aging IBMS graduate under the mentorship of James Nelson, PhD, led the first-ever comprehensive review of anti-aging compounds tested by the National Institute on Aging’s Interventions Testing Program.
Published in the Journal of Gerontology: Biological Science (July 2025), the landmark study analyzed two decades of data and identified 13 compounds that extend lifespan and healthspan in preclinical models. Among them, rapamycin stood out as the most effective, increasing survival by up to 28% even when given later in life.
This groundbreaking work provides an essential roadmap for future aging research and therapeutic development. Congratulations to Dr. Jiang for this outstanding achievement!
