South Texas Aging Registry & Repository (STARR)
Purpose of this Study
The South Texas Aging Registry and Repository (STARR) purpose is to collect health information, blood, and specimens to store for future research purposes. We want to learn more about how to improve the health and quality of life of older adults. We are also working to learn how genes affect how a person ages or how aging influences genes and the cells they affect.
You may qualify if:
- Age 18 +
You may NOT qualify if:
- Live in a nursing home or assisted living facility.
- Are currently pregnant
Duration of the Study:
This is a 1 visit study with additional optional visits.
Study Procedures:
- Demographics
- Vital signs
- Blood draw
Optional Procedures:
- Medical history
- Genetic blood draw
- Physical assessment
- Questionnaires
- Skin sample
- Fat sample

Compensation:
Visit 1: No compensation for blood draw, vital signs, and demographics
Optional Visit: $25 for skin sample; up to $140 for fat sample
